These free printable bird cards come with a bird colouring page and an art prompt on the back. Read the card, then enjoy colouring!
A card is always a nice gesture, especially with Valentine’s Day coming, and if there is something more to the card, it is even more exciting! The cards we’ve been preparing this year hold a little surprise for my children’s friends. They come with either a colouring page or a drawing prompt on their back. The other cards we have made in this series so far include friendly monsters, dragons and princesses and sweets.
My son and I often use drawing prompts. It started with me drawing something simple for him to finish, and he loved it. It inspired his creativity and encouraged him to try new things. Art prompts are like exercises for the imagination. This winter we’ve even made an art prompt book for him! We wanted to share our love of art with his friends, and that’s how this idea of art prompt cards came along.
As for the colouring page, it was a natural addition: who doesn’t like to colour when an opportunity is presented? We may even give one card with a colouring page to grandma!
The designs are hand-painted in watercolours, then transferred into a digital form, so we could print dozens of copies for everyone. Or even a dozen for my son alone. He loves creating several versions of one prompt.
If you have a special someone who would enjoy a card they can draw on, you can download and print it here.

Wow, I absolutely love this. The red robins print is so beautiful. The bluetit art prompt is so sweet too. I will be doing this with my daughter. Thank you.
Awww, thank you, Marina! Really glad to hear it!
