Description
Looking for a heartfelt way to celebrate a special mother figure in your life? It’s not just children who can surprise their parents with handmade crafts! If you’re an adult who loves to add a personal touch to your gifts, this DIY Mother’s Day wreath is the perfect choice. This craft lets you create an elegant, personalized paper wreath that’s sure to complement any other gifts you’ve prepared.
The Mother’s Day wreath is inspired by traditional paper-cut art. The multiple layers of cutouts create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The result is a visually striking, intricate piece. It’s perfect for fans of paper art and silhouettes!
This paper-cut art can be displayed on the wall for years to come, stored away until next year – or simply recycled after the holidays. There is some beauty in that, too.
Customizable Design
The second layer of our Mother’s Day wreath can be customized from twelve different designs. Alongside the figure of a woman, this layer includes children, for which you can select the number and hairstyles to match your family’s unique look. The variants include:
- one child with a short hairstyle
- one child with a long hairstyle
- one child with a long hairstyle on the swing and one child with a short hairstyle on the grass
- one child with a short hairstyle on the swing and one child with a long hairstyle on the grass
- three children
We would have loved to add even more children, but there was no more space. If you have a big family, use one or two children as a symbol!
How to Make DIY Mother’s Day Wreath
There are several ways to make the wreath. Cutting paper with a craft knife is possible but challenging. Consider using a paper-cutting machine (like Silhouette Cameo or Cricut) or a laser-cutter (like xTool). The included designs allow you to do either one of the following:
- use coloured card stock while choosing your own colour scheme
- print and cut one of the three existing colour schemes.
Next, assemble the layers. To create the layered look, you will need foam tape or foam squares. Use a good amount of foam squares so that each layer is well-supported on all sides. Align subsequent layers of foam squares for extra structural support.
If you have access to a laser cutter, you can use these designs to make a durable plywood wreath for outdoor display!
You can read more about the process of making a wreath here. Instructions for cutting and assembly are also included in the product.
